If you need a driveway in Plymouth and you are not sure which type of driveway you need then there are several solutions available to you. There are 4 main types of driveway - first there is tarmac, a nice easy installation, cost effective and can last for many years. Block paved drives are becoming more and more popular and require a competent tradesman to lay the blocks accurately and to ensure a quality finish. Gravel driveways are probably your cheapest option and can also be a great looking finish. Concrete is the smoothest way of finishing your front of house. If you have keen skateboarders in the family this is what we would recommend. One of our favorite ways of laying a driveway is with a resin gravel that sets firm but is water absorbent whilst maintaining a completely impermeable barrier to weeds and growth from below. So these are the main types of paths, driveways and patios. But what about the installer or contractor? We find that in Plymouth there are 3 main types of driveway contractor. 1. One man band/Cowboy/Gypsies - you may take one look and think I would never choose this type of contractor, but when offered a ridiculously cheap price a lot of people make the mistake of trusting these types of traders. Look it may be fine, but dont come crying to us if you get a shabby job and a crap driveway. Actually you can come crying to us, we have rescued many a bad job from rogue traders and the saying goes buy cheap, buy twice. 2. Reliable Experienced and Trustworthy. This is the holy grail for homeowners and the only way to proceed in our opinion. Yes you will pay more and you will have to pay VAT but you will end up with a quality driveway for many years. 3. Experienced, but unreliable and not trustworthy. There are many firms out there who have the wealth of knowledge and skill to build quality home improvements but they just simply cant deliver on customer service. This company built our driveway and entrance wall. They fitted an electronic gate and the whole job was absolutely stunning. We couldn't have hoped for better service and we would whole heartedly recommend them to anybody considering some groundwork type project. I would have given them 6 stars if I could, I am over joyed with my finished job it has made the property look absolutely sensational!
